Recipes that use a dehydrator

Sesame Turmeric Snacks 1

I saw some sesame nori crackers in the bulk section of our local natural food store and I thought it was a good flavor combination idea.  And then I upgraded it! 🙂 Here’s my current favorite version of this recipe that has a slightly salty, savory, super satisfying flavor.  It’s also highly good for you! Sesame Turmeric Snacks 4 Cups Sesame Seeds (soaked and rinsed) 2 Cups Cashews (soaked and rinsed) 1 Cup Chia Seeds soaked in 2 cups water 1 Cup Dulse Seaweed or Nori Sheets torn into small bits 1-2 inches of Ginger (peeled) 1/2 Cup Lemon Juice […]

Kale Chips

Kale Chips are such a tasty way of satisfying cravings for salty, savory, crunch, while still getting a healthy dose of greens.  Buying them from the store is much more costly than making them at home … and making them yourself is easy. Here’s a basic recipe to get you started … adjust the seasonings to your preferences of the moment. 🙂   Start with a head of Curly Leaf Kale. Lacinto Kale – the flat leaf kale also called “Dinosaur Kale” – will also work for this, but your chips will be very flat and not as crispy in […]

Holiday Raw: Turkey Balls

No Thanksgiving table is complete without turkey!   With all the yummy Thanksgiving spices in here, you may not even desire any stuffing on the side.  Just plenty of mushroom gravy and fresh raw cranberry sauce. You’ll need a dehydrator to make the turkey balls.  If you don’t have a dehydrator, you can try using your oven on low or saute the turkey “meat” on low with a little water added to the pan to make a “ground turkey meat” effect (works great for turkey tacos). Here’s the recipe – let me know how you choose to play with it and if you […]

Banana Crepes

Crêpes are a versatile food that can be used as a sweet or savory dish, depending on the fillings.  I was inspired to create this dish after craving pancakes.  In true Loving Superfoods fashion, these crepes are loaded with nutrients, and low in calories.  Maca and Lucuma Powder are the two high quality superfoods in this delicious recipe.  If you find yourself overcome with anxiety, stress, depression or mood swings, Maca may help alleviate these symptoms.  In addition to satisfying your sweet tooth, Lucuma is gluten-free and a source of antioxidants, fiber, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals necessary for bodily functions and of benefit […]

Buckwheat Bars 1

My friend Nandish made these buckwheat granola bars off of someone else’s recipe (thank you smallfootprintfamily), so really they’ve been upgraded twice. 🙂 You could make these as a raw granola cereal, but frankly I prefer to have a portable bar that travels well and is packed full of nutrients.  This is a very flexible recipe for what nuts, seeds, fruit, berries, herbs, spices and superfood powders you happen to have on hand.  As long as you have some buckwheat groats as a base, it’ll turn out nice and crunchy.  Here are a couple of variations on the recipe to […]

Chocolate Cookies, Crunchy or Chewy

I have tried about 5 different ways of making these chocolate cookies, and they are ALL good!  Here are 2 versions for you to work with, depending on whether you want soft, thin, crispy cookies or chewy cookies.  I usually prefer the former, but both are delish! Thin, Crunchy Chocolate Cookies 1 Cup Buckwheat Groats (soaked and rinsed well) 1/2 Cup Chia Seeds (dry) 1 Cup Cacao Powder 2 Tbsp Ground Vanilla 1/4 tsp SunFire Salt 1 Cup Vanilla Agave Nectar 1/2 Cup Water 1 Cup Cacao Nibs marinated in about 1-2 Tbsp Vanilla Agave Nectar (optional, and preferred) 1/2 […]
