Recipes that use a dehydrator

Sprouted Lentil Falafel

Falafel is a traditional middle eastern food that is typically made from garbanzo beans and fried.  It’s often served in a pita bread or on a salad with a tzatziki sauce (cucumber-yogurt sauce).  This raw version I created completely satisfies my greek food cravings and I can taste the aliveness in every bite. Falafel Patties 1/2 Medium Onion (about 1 cup once shredded in the food processor) 2-4 Carrots (about 1 cup once shredded in the food processor) 1 Garlic clove 1 Cup Sprouted Lentils (1/2 Cup dry lentils) 1 Cup Water 1/2 Cup Ground Flax Seeds 1/4-1/2 of an […]

Spicy Flax / Chia Crackers

The consistency of these crackers is so perfectly thin and crispy and the spicy/salty factor is just right.  Follow the water and seed ratio exactly and then feel free to play with the spices for even more fun customizations. 2 Cups Flax Seeds, Chia Seeds or a blend of both (I prefer half of each) 4 Cups Water Soak the seeds in the 4 cups of water until gelatinous (at least an hour or overnight) Take 2 Cups of the seed/water gel and blend with 3 Cups of additional water until smooth.  Pour this mixture into a large mixing bowl […]

Raw Blueberry Scones with Vanilla Lucuma Icing

If you crave bread or muffins or scones, then this recipe is definitely for you!  I’ve adjusted and upgraded one of Ani Phyo’s recipes from her book [amazon-product text=”Anis Raw Food Desserts” tracking_id=”vingsuperfoods-20″ type=”text”]0738213063[/amazon-product] and boy is it yummy! You will require a dehydrator to make the scones (or use your oven in it’s lowest setting with the door cracked open if you want to eat these before investing in a dehydrator). And the Vanilla Lucuma Icing! Wow, you can use that on anything and make it any flavor you like (add fruit juices or blended fruit or cacao powder).  […]

Oatmeal Goji Cacao Nib Cookies 1

My friend Lisa passed on this recipe for raw Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, and I played with it to make it even easier and more upgraded with superfoods. Here’s my version of the recipe … let me know what alterations you come up with that delight you 🙂 4 Cups Oat Flour* 1 Cup Palm Sugar (or other dried, crystallized sweetener like succanat or maple syrup powder) 1/2 tsp Sun Fire Salt 1 tsp Cinnamon 1/2 Cup Coconut Oil (softened OK – does not have to be so warm that it’s an oil) 1/2 Cup Dates 2 Tbsp Ground Vanilla (or […]

Holiday Raw: Mock Turkey 2

Last year I tried two variations on raw mock turkey and a raw mock stuffing.  Now I’ve combined the best of the best into my current favorite raw mock turkey recipe.  With all the yummy Thanksgiving spices in here, I find I don’t desire any stuffing on the side.  Just plenty of mushroom gravy and fresh raw cranberry sauce. You’ll need a dehydrator to make the turkey as a loaf or patties (my preferred method).  If you don’t have a dehydrator, you can try using your oven on low or saute the turkey “meat” on low with a little water […]
