Sesame Turmeric Snacks 1

sesame crackersI saw some sesame nori crackers in the bulk section of our local natural food store and I thought it was a good flavor combination idea.  And then I upgraded it! 🙂

Here’s my current favorite version of this recipe that has a slightly salty, savory, super satisfying flavor.  It’s also highly good for you!

Sesame Turmeric Snacks

4 Cups Sesame Seeds (soaked and rinsed)

2 Cups Cashews (soaked and rinsed)

1 Cup Chia Seeds soaked in 2 cups water

1 Cup Dulse Seaweed or Nori Sheets torn into small bits

1-2 inches of Ginger (peeled)

1/2 Cup Lemon Juice (include the lemon zest if you have it or add food-grade lemon essential oil if you like)

1 Cup Honey or Vanilla Agave Nectar

2 Tbsp SunFire Salt

1 Tbsp Turmeric Powder

Pulse grind the cashews in a food processor so that they are lightly chopped.  Blend the ginger with the lemon juice (or else finely grate the ginger).  Add all ingredients to a large bowl and stir well.

Spread evenly and about 1/8-1/4 inch thick on teflex sheets and dehydrate at 115 degrees F for 4 hours or until the top is tacky/dry.  Flip the crackers over, remove the teflex sheet, and dehydrate for another 8-12 hours.  About half way through this second time span of dehydrating you should be able to score the crackers into squares and create more space around them for even drying.

Store in a sealed container with a desiccation packet (found in pill bottles) for about 1-2 weeks.  Keep in the fridge or freezer for longer storage times.
